The Swaminarayan Mandir

Hwy. 400 & Finch Ave. W., Toronto

As you drive north towards the airport, or perhaps towards Barrie, you might spot this exotic masterpiece parked near the Highway 427. Carved - quite literally- from Italian Carrara marble & Turkish limestone, the Swaminarayan Mandir sometimes seems to exist out of context, especially during a particularly cold winter snowstorm. Built to last a thousand years, Hindu temples are meant to provide a place for “peace & serenity” for followers & visitors.
